Used Motor/Engine Oil

With no solid carrier (such as soil) to bind it, the oil coats the reactor walls, blocking heat transfer and risking damage to the mechanical scrapers.

Water Waste (Pure Liquid Chemicals)

A TDU is designed for solid-liquid separation. Without an adequate solid-to-liquid ratio, processing pure chemicals is energy-inefficient and technically incompatible with the desorption process.

Profitable Value of Final Products

The oil sludge system effectively transforms hazardous oil sludge waste into three high-value, marketable products.

Pyrolysis Fuel Oil

Property: Low sulfur, high calorific value, good fluidity

Applications:
Used in boiler plants, cement factories, and brick kilns.

It is essential in the production of plastics, fibers, and chemicals.

Combustible gas

Combustible gas

Applications:
Recycled to heat the pyrolysis reactor itself, reducing fuel costs and energy consumption.

Can be used to power burners, boilers, or for drying processes within the plant.

Solid slag

Solid Residue

Property: Carbon-rich solid (similar to carbon black), low oil content, stable and easy to handle.

Applications:
Used as fuel for boilers, cement kilns, and brick factories.

Used as a raw material or additive in construction materials such as bricks and road base.

Additional Commercial Value of Oil Sludge Treatment Solution

Oil sludge treatment is more than just selling recovered oil. Beyond the end products above, the process opens up multiple profit channels — including treatment service fees, by-product utilization, and the value of meeting strict environmental compliance.

High Oil Recovery Rate

Pyrolysis recovers nearly all oil locked in sludge — calculated directly from the raw material’s oil content.

Up to 98% extraction efficiency

Profitable Pyrolysis Oil Returns

Produced pyrolysis oil is directly sellable as industrial fuel, with market prices varying by region and oil quality.

$400 – $500 USD / tons

Oil Sludge Treatment Service Fee

Apart from selling pyrolysis oil, oil sludge treatment projects may also offer another commercial value — oil sludge harmless treatment fees.

$80 – $500 USD / tons

BLJ-20 TDU: Engineered for Higher Yield, Bigger Scale, Safer Operation

The BLJ-20 TDU represents Beston’s latest engineering breakthrough in oil sludge pyrolysis. Through three major upgrades — one-step oil refining, 50% greater capacity, and safer sealed operation — it delivers higher product value, stronger project returns, and a safer working environment.

One-Step Oil Refining — Naphtha + Non-standard Diesel
50% Larger Capacity — ø2800×10000 Reactor
Safer by Design — Sealed, Flame-Free Operation

One-Step Oil Refining — Naphtha + Non-standard Diesel

Built-in fractional distillation lets the BLJ-20 pyrolyze and separate oil in a single step — automatically splitting output into naphtha (below 200°C) and non-standard diesel (above 200°C) by temperature.

50% Larger Capacity — ø2800×10000 Reactor

An upgraded ø2800×10000 reactor lifts throughput by 50%, handling up to 7,500 tonnes of oil sludge a year (20-25 t/day).

Safer by Design — Sealed, Flame-Free Operation

Thermal dynamic sealing and flexible high-temperature insulation deliver far tighter sealing than conventional reactors — no oil-gas leaks, no open flames.

Technological Workflow of Thermal Desorption Unit

The Beston Thermal Desorption Process is an highly efficient, harmless and environmentally friendly closed-loop system for oil sludge pyrolysis.

01Pre-treatment and Feeding

Three feeding methods for different oil sludge liquid contents:
Below liquid content 40%: belt conveyor; 40%-60% liquid content: shaftless spiral; More than 75% liquid content: sludge pump.

02Oil Sludge Thermal Desorption

Thermal desorption reaction occurs in a high-temperature micro-aerobic reaction environment. During the reaction, oil sludge undergoes the following changes in thermal desorption equipment:

Under high-temperature conditions, long-chain hydrocarbons in oil sludge are broken into small molecular hydrocarbons. Condensable components in the oil gas can be cooled through the condenser to form fuel oil. Non-condensable oil gas is purified by water sealing to form syngas, which provide energy for the reactor.

03Exhaust Gas Treatment

The high-temperature exhaust gas passes through the flue condenser and spray tower for cooling and dust removal. In addition, we provide high-end exhaust gas treatment systems, including electrostatic dust removal, activated carbon dust removal, and desulfurization and denitrification treatment. The flue gas emitted by high-end exhaust gas treatment can meet EU standards.

04Oil Distillation (Optional)

Fuel oil is converted into higher quality non-standard diesel through oil distillation equipment. With this equipment, fuel oil goes through the following stages:
Distillation: heating the fuel oil and separating components with different boiling points.
Condensation: cooling and liquefying the evaporated components.
Acid & alkali washing: removing acidic and alkaline impurities and improving oil quality.

05Solid Residue Discharge

Some solid substances in oil sludge cannot participate in thermal desorption and eventually form solid residues. The solid residue is discharged through the water-cooled screw conveyor.
